Nature’s Bounty Probiotic 10 Review (30 Day Experiment)

For this review, I bought and tried their Nature's Bounty Probiotic 10 and tested it for one month.

As a Nutritionist I was impressed by strains used in this product and was interested to see what effect they could have in my testing.

I will share my honest takeaways with you now and compare it with some other probiotics I have also tried.

Nature's Bounty Probiotic 10 Ingredients

Lactobacillus Plantarum

This 2018 journal from the Chonnam National University, in South Korea found that in a vitro setting, Lactobacillus Plantarum was helpful against inflammation in the colon suggesting it could help with IBD. It was claimed however that more human clinical trials were needed to back up this claim.

Lactobacillus Bulgaricus

A 2020 Journal published in Frontiers In Microbiology looked at Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus found that L. Bulgaricus in both Vitro / Vivo, the strain had "high antimicrobial" effects on pathogens and that the strain survived acidic and bile environments. It's thought this could help with the gut barrier but more studies are needed.

Lactobacillus Paracasei

One Randomized Clinical Controlled trial from 2020 looked at the efficacy of Lactobacillus Paracasei along with Bifidobacterium Longum against symptoms of IBS. 251 adults participated in the trial for 2-weeks and the conclusion was the bacteria may reduce gastrointestinal severity and improve mental well-being.

Lactobacillus Salivarius

Lactobacillus Brevis

Scientific literature on L. Brevis is somewhat limited but a 2016 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study had 126 adult participants take either heat-killed L. Brevis or placebo for 12 weeks and the end discussion found that it was "effective at improving skin hydration conditions".

Lactobacillus Acidophilus

Lactobacillus Acidophilus has been well studied and a review looking at various studies found that there was enough evidence to suggest that this strain could be safe and effective in the treatment against acute and chronic diarrhea.

Lactobacillus Casei

Gram-positive Lactobacillus Casei is thought to be closely related to L. Paracasei and a 2006 journal published in the Applied & Environmental Microbiology found that through the consumption of fermented milk like Kefi for example, the strain was able to survive during its journey through the human digestive system.

Bifidobacterium Lactis

This 2014 review from an academic institute in Denmark showed that in vitro, Bifidobacterium lactis out of 24 other Bifidobacterium strains, B. Lactis had the highest adhesion to mucous in the intestines suggesting it could help strengthen the gut barrier function in people with Leaky Gut Syndrome.

Nature's Bounty 10 Allergens

The Nature's Bounty Probiotic Capsules do not contain soy, gluten, wheat, fish, starch, sugar, or sodium. This makes them suitable for a lot of dietary restrictions like gluten intolerant people, for example.

Moreover, Nature's Bounty Probiotic 10 capsules have no artificial colors or flavors added or sweeteners and preservatives. However, it does contain some sugar, which isn't suitable for people on a weight loss diet.

The only negative is that there are milk ingredients in the make-up of this supplement. This makes it unsuitable for lactose intolerant people and vegans.

Finally, there is gelatin in the capsules, which is worth noting as a minor allergen. If you experience any allergic reactions, you should discontinue use immediately and contact a medical professional immediately.

My Experience and Side Effects

I tried Nature's Bounty Probiotic 10 for a total of 30 days, taking the recommended dose of 2 capsules once a day for 20 billion CFU. They are easy to take and have no flavor. To start with I didn't notice any results and thought it might not be working.

However, after a few weeks, my digestion was on track and more regular than before, and I felt quite energetic and light, having got rid of some bloating.

When taking the Nature's Bounty Probiotic 10 Probiotic, I needed a few days for the body to adjust to the potent strain of probiotics fully.

My initial side effects included bloating, cramps, and gas – all otherwise normal side effects of probiotics, depending on your digestive system.

Luckily, after a few days, the stomach pain and cramps went away, which was a sign that my body adjusted to the supplement. It is worth noting that side effects were not severe, but of course, this does depend on everyone’s circumstances.

Finally, it is good to take these capsules according to the recommended dosage for some time and then adjust the dose that suits you. Once your body starts to respond to the probiotic strains, you may be okay with a higher CFU dosage, for example.

Nature's Bounty Probiotic 10 Reviews

On Amazon, Nature's Bounty 10 has an impressive 4.8 out of 5-star rating from nearly 4000 reviews which is one of the best review ratings I have seen for a probiotic on the marketplace during my years or research.

One of the top 5-star reviews from a customer called Kimbergidget gave high praise calling the probiotic a "miracle worker" claiming it helped cut down their gas, and diarrhea after taking one pill with breakfast and lunch.

Pbailey said they had been taking Nature's Bounty Probiotic for 2 years prior locally at their shop but after ordering them through Amazon the box had a bad smell and taste. They claimed this was so bad it made their acid reflux worse.

Where to Buy Nature's Bounty Probiotic 10?

Nature's Bounty is widely available online and in shops but look around because prices vary. I picked it up at Costco for $28.99, buying a 60-capsule pack. You can also find it for this price in Walgreens for $31.99. It's a lot cheaper than Gundry MD, which I tried and reviewed last week.

Target and CVS also offer the supplement, and of course, you can get it on Amazon.

It's worth noting that I haven't seen any money-back guarantee either on the Nature's Bounty official website or through resellers. This is surprising for a Probiotic that has been marketed as high quality, high strength.

Natures's Bounty 10 Recall

Last year in 2021, rumors were floating around that Nature's Bounty 10 had been recalled because of contamination of bad bacteria in the supplement.

According to FDA.gov website for probiotic recalls there were no announcements from the company Nature's Bounty®. In 2005, Nature's did recall their multivitamin gummies because of a child lock issue.

Nature's Bounty 10 probiotic has never been recalled and it's possible that some customers got confused between the 2005 case or with another brand that did have a supplement recall. Nature's Bounty is a trusted brand.

Nature's Bounty Probiotic Alternatives 

Nature's Bounty seems great on the surface but I always recommend my client to look around for different probiotic supplement best suited to their needs. This is how Nature's Bounty stacks up agains't some others.

Culturelle

Culturelle solely focuses on probiotics, offering 27 different types of products, including IBS support, baby immune health, women's vaginal support, and probiotics for kids, fiber, weight support, and post-antibiotic usage.

Nature's Bounty also offers a range of probiotics with various strains of beneficial bacteria, including Lactobacillus bacteria. Both brands receive positive customer reviews, suggesting that they are effective in supporting gut health and Culturelle is cheaper at $17.99.

Align

Align specializes exclusively in probiotics and offers supplements such as Kids Gummies, Women's Dual Action, and 24/7 Digestive Support, which contains the clinically studied Bifidobacterium Longum 35624 strain which my clients have had good results with.

Nature's Bounty Probiotic 10 contains 10 different beneficial probiotic strains and is free from soy, gluten, wheat, fish, starch, sugar, and sodium, making it suitable for people with dietary restrictions.

It is priced at $14.99 for a bottle of 60 capsules, while Align's 24/7 Digestive Support is priced at around $49.99 for 24 capsules. Both probiotics have positive customer reviews, but the choice between them depends on individual needs and strain requirements.

Trunature

Nature's Bounty contains 10 strains of probiotics, offering 20 billion CFUs per serving and also offers probiotic supplements designed specifically for women and children.

In comparison, Trunature's Digestive Probiotic offers a blend of three probiotic strains doesn't necessarily prove it is weaker but that it's more focused to specific needs. 

One of the strains in Trunature for example is Lactobacillus Rhamnosus which maybe useful for IBS according to at least one study where as Nature's Bounty Probiotic 10 does not have the strain.

I would give Nature's Bounty 10 a solid 4 out of 5-star rating based on my own experience. It has a good diverse range of probiotic bacteria.

If I could change one thing I would make the CFU count a little bit higher and the cost cheaper but other than that I felt good after taking the probiotic for a month and it helps with my digestive health.
