Digestive Advantage Gummies Review (30-Day Result)
In this post, I plan to review Digestive Advantage Gummies and share my 30-day experience.
I am a certified nutritionist and have tried various probiotic gummy brands over the years with varying results.
I will discuss the ingredients, side effects, and how to take them and share my experience with these gummies, including whether or not they helped with my digestive issues.
What is Digestive Advantage?
Digestive Advantage is a brand of Schiff Vitamins, which mainly includes fiber, probiotics, and vitamin supplements to try and improve digestion among customers.
Most of the probiotics sold under the Digestive Advantage brand are quite affordable. Today in 2022, you can buy a single bottle containing 60 gummies for $14.29 from the Schiff Vitamin's website. (no affiliate link)
Their probiotics can also be bought from major pharmacies such as CVS, Walgreens, and other retailers, including Walmart, Amazon, Target, and Kroger.
Although, in practice, it's better to either buy directly from the company's website or buying from Amazon as here you will find the lowest possible prices.
Schiffs also sell Probiotics For Children, Capsules with a higher CFU Count and even Prebiotic and Probiotic Fiber Combos which I would love to try and review at some point.
Gummy Ingredients
Schiff Digestive Advantage contains a single Bacillus Coagulans strain at a 500 Million CFU count per 2 gummies.
Bacillus Coagulans
This 2016 American study, published in the PeerJ peer-reviewed journal looks at whether or not Bacillus Coagulans GBI-30, 6086 the specific probiotic strain inside of Digestive Advantage gummies could assist with Muscle damage & recovery after intense workouts.
For this study, 29 males were recruited to either take 1-Billion CFU of the probiotic for 2-weeks in a crossover, diet-controlled design. At the end of the study, it was found that taking B. Coagulan's with protein did reduce muscle damage whilst improving recovery. This next study also seems to suggest anti-inflammatory effects.
An earlier paper published in 2015 through the peer-reviewed The Journal of Nutrition looked at the gut-modulating effects of Bacillus Coagulans GBI-30, 6086 (BC30) in 36 older men & women. They took 1-Billon CFU serving for 28-days before then taking blood & fecal samples for analysis or placebo.
The analysis of the blood & stool samples showed that after taking B. Coagulans there was an increase in gram-positive Faecalibacterium prausnitzii compared to the placebo group and various Bacillus species in the microbiome also increased. There was also a notable increase in the production of pro-anti-inflammatory cytokines.
Side Effects
As the gummies contain some allergens such as soy, gelatin, and corn syrup, so if you are allergic to any of these or any other ingredient, then it's better to avoid them.
I personally, experienced no side effects when taking the Digestive Advantage ProBiotic Gummies. These gummies are gluten free at first glance it does look like they could be vegan although it does contain gelatin which is an animal product.
Probiotic side effects like gas, bloating and diarrhea are common and usually pass. You should consult with a medical professional and discontinue use immediately if you experience any side effects that worry you. I am not a medical professional.
My 30-Day Experience
I tried these to treat my diarrhea, bloating, and other digestive issues for a month before writing this review. I took a serving size of 2 gummies per day in the mornings.
The gummies are easy to chew and tasted great, although sometimes you get the feeling of chewing a medicine, mostly they are like normal candy gummies.
The company claims that they help treat diarrhea, and they somewhat helped me. Still, overall, I wasn't satisfied with the results as my bloating and indigestion continued even after taking these gummies.
I feel that the low bacteria count may be a reason as they have a quite low CFU count when compared with other probiotic supplements available in the market. I couldn't find how many million CFUs it has.
I think for me for me personally, I prefer capsule probiotics because of the higher CFU but if someone was looking to try probiotics for the first time then these gummies would be an excellent option.
How To Take Digestive Advantage Gummies?
Taking Digestive Advantage Gummies is as simple as putting them in your mouth, chewing them and then swallowing.
You don't need to take a glass of water like with capsule. The one thing I would advise doing however is leaving a 1 or 2 hour gap between taking the gummies and eating large meals.
Whilst Bacillus Coagulans is a robust bacteria able to withstand a lot of hard temperatures & stomach conditions allowing the bacteria to pass through your digestive tract without other food is a good idea.
Digestive Advantage Gummies Reviews
Digestive Advantage Gummies currently have a 4.7 out of 5 star rating from over 17,500+ customer reviews. This is a huge amount and there are a lot of happy customers.
In March 2018, a verified purchase customer called Kerry Ann Mormello claimed that before taking Digestive Advantage gummies they had been suffering from horrible GERD attacks weekly for a long time.
They went to a Doctor who performed an endoscopy and ruled out ulcers or H. Pylori which they previously had. They also tried taking omeprazole at 40mg with Zantac. They then claimed that 1 month after taking these gummies daily their painful GERD attacks then stopped.
Another verified customer called Shawn in 2019 claimed that his entire family could not stop farting after taking these gummies.
He claimed that upon waking up in the morning his bedroom smelled like roadkill and this affected his romantic life.
Increased gas when taking probiotics is a common side effect that usually passes after a few weeks and is a sign that the probiotic is starting to work.
How To Refund Digestive Advantage?
On the Schiff Website, they have a refund policy that states you can refund any supplement that is still in its original packaging in a saleable condition.
This means that if you opened the gummies, tried them for a month, and didn't notice any results you would not be entitled to a refund.
To start the refund you can call Toll Free at 888-532-4574 Monday to Friday or by emailing [email protected] and putting "RETURN" in the subject heading.
Llama Naturals vs Digestive Advantage
Llama Naturals and Digestive Advantage Gummy are both probiotic supplements that aim to promote digestive health.
Llama Naturals is a plant-based alternative that uses only natural ingredients, while Digestive Advantage Gummy contains synthetic ingredients and animal-derived gelatin. I tend to prefer more natural supplements and avoid anything synthetic fillers
Llama Naturals' formula includes six strains of probiotics, prebiotics, and digestive enzymes, while Digestive Advantage Gummy only has one strain of probiotic which isn't great.
While both products have positive customer reviews, Llama Naturals may be a more appealing option for those seeking a vegan, natural, and I found digestive supplement. Llama seems to be more popular with kids as well from what I have noticed.
Final Thoughts
I'd recommend these gummies only for someone who wants to take a low CF count probiotic for maintaining general health. These may not be the right choice if you're going to relieve the symptoms of a severe stomach disorder such as diarrhea or irritable bowel syndrome.
I liked the taste of the gummies and the fact that they helped me with diarrhea but am still not satisfied as they didn't help with my bloating and irregular bowel movements.
So, suppose you want to get rid of several stomach issues. In that case, it's a good idea to first consult with a medical professional asap. I am not a Doctor.
Some people may get better results with a more potent probiotic supplement as the low CFU count in these gummies is quite weak and there isn't any Lactobacillus bacteria present or prebiotics.
